The problem

The traditional tax process is too slow and too reactive.

Underneath: software we built to keep the work moving — and a professional who signs every return.

A traditional firm

  • June — filed at the deadline
  • …then silence until next year.

Working with Cadence

  • Jan — documents in
  • Mar — T2 filed
  • Issue, flagged early
  • Review, if you want
  • Planning, if useful
  • Dec — no scramble

Underneath: software we built to keep the work moving — and a professional who signs every return.

At a traditional firm, the return goes in on deadline day, a number in it is wrong, and the explanation, when it comes, doesn't explain much. That's the year-end model working as designed — everything saved for last. Cadence runs the year the other way. The work starts when your documents arrive and is checked before it reaches you; answers come when the questions do, and when something is off, we say so first and fix it.

Who it's for

More than a simple return? You're in the right place.

We work with incorporated businesses, professional corporations, holding companies and investors. If your year involves a corporation, payroll, dividends or investment income, you're exactly who we built Cadence for — the only returns pointed elsewhere are the truly simple, single-T4 kind.

Outside these groups? Most incorporated businesses are a fit — industry matters less than you'd think.

Why Cadence

Built to respond, not just to file.

  • Faster responses

Get straightforward answers without waiting until filing season.

  • Advice before the deadline

Evaluate compensation, distributions and major decisions while there is still time to act.

  • Business and owner, together

Corporate and personal tax are managed as one connected relationship.

  • Nothing falls through

Missing slips and mismatched numbers get caught during the year — not in a CRA letter months later.

None of this runs on good intentions. It runs on a system — the one just below.

How we work

Technology where it improves the work. People where judgment matters.

Much of the software underneath this work is ours — built in-house where it makes sense, bought where a good tool already exists. Secure automation and AI-assisted checks organize documents as they arrive, flag what's missing or inconsistent and clear repetitive processing from our accountants' desks. That's where the time for answers, advice and early filings comes from.

Every filing and recommendation is reviewed by a tax professional.

Your filing calendar, estimates and check-ins start immediately — no gap.

FAQ

Common questions

Are you a CPA firm?

No. Cadence is an independent tax and accounting services company. We prepare tax returns, provide tax advice and planning, maintain accounting records and assist clients with routine CRA matters. We do not provide audits, review engagements or other independent assurance services. Where those or legal services are required, we work with independent licensed professionals.

Can I use you if I already have a bookkeeper?

Yes. You do not have to move your bookkeeping to us. We can work with your existing bookkeeper or internal finance team, review the year-end records and manage the company and owner's tax work. We also provide bookkeeping where a client prefers one integrated service.

Do you serve businesses throughout Canada?

Yes, with one exception: we do not currently serve Quebec. We work with incorporated businesses and professional corporations in every other province and the territories, including owners operating in more than one province. Quebec corporations file separately with Revenu Québec, and we do not currently prepare those filings.

Do you handle US or international tax?

No. US federal and state filings, foreign returns and other cross-border tax matters are referred to specialists — we flag them early and work alongside the specialist. Selling to US or international customers from your Canadian corporation is different: that is core work. Exported services and goods are generally zero-rated for GST/HST, and US-dollar invoices produce exchange gains we handle as part of the normal service.

Do you prepare both corporate and personal tax returns?

Yes — that is the core of the service. The corporate return and the owner's personal return are prepared in the same relationship, so compensation, investment income and personal tax are considered together.

How do you use AI?

In the plumbing, not the judgment. Automation and AI-assisted workflows organize information, flag inconsistencies and cut repetitive processing — much of it running on software we build in-house where it makes sense, so the tools fit the way we work rather than the other way around. That buys our accountants more time for review and advice. AI never decides a tax position and never files a return: a tax professional reviews and signs off on every filing and recommendation.

Can you help me decide between salary and dividends?

Yes. Compensation planning is a standard part of the Year-Round Tax Partner package, and an annual compensation review is included in every package.

Can you communicate with the CRA for me?

Yes. With your authorization we handle routine CRA correspondence, notice-of-assessment reviews, requests for information and account corrections on your behalf. Active major disputes are accepted selectively or referred.

What is the on-time filing guarantee?

If we have your complete records by the date we agree at onboarding and we still miss a filing deadline, we pay the CRA late-filing penalty and interest caused by the delay — and credit that month’s fee. The guarantee covers the T2, owner T1s, GST/HST and payroll filings we are engaged to prepare. It does not apply where records arrive after the agreed date or where CRA systems are unavailable.

How is pricing determined?

By the number of entities, the complexity of the tax work, the state of your records and whether bookkeeping or reporting is included. Packages start at $3,000 per year for Business Tax Compliance (including the corporate T2 and the owner’s T1), $6,000 for the Year-Round Tax Partner, which adds the payroll tax filings, and $12,000 for Tax + Accounting, which adds the bookkeeping and runs the payroll itself. Fees are fixed annually, payable monthly, and agreed at the estimate stage — so the fee is known before any work begins.
